Carlo Camera

Instructor

Carlo Camera is an Arakan Martial Art Instructor who has dedicated his life to personal development, physical fitness, and empowering others. Carlo's journey in Arakan began in 2015 when he stumbled upon this particular form of martial arts during a sports exhibition. He found that the practical skills he was learning were extremely challenging and satisfying, and that the art itself was both awe-inspiring and kickass.

Becoming an Arakan Martial Art Instructor allowed Carlo to use his caring nature to help others enrich, support, and improve their lives. He finds great satisfaction in seeing students come out of their shell, taking chances, and getting outside their comfort zone, just as he did.

Carlo's accomplishments in Arakan include gaining Chief Instructor's Award in 2021 and grading his Yellow Belt. His passion for Arakan does not take away from his other personal interests outside of martial arts, such as exploring new attractions, hiking, watching movies, spending time with family and friends, gardening, architecture, sustainability, sci-fi and fantasy, cultural cuisines, Japanese, and Italian culture.

Student Testimonials

Carlo Camera is a great teacher, focusing on the core skills I needed to develop my practice and learn to defend my self. He has a deep understanding of Arakan and what it is about. He shares that understanding with me in many different ways through the class. He is a friendly and relatable teacher that makes every class fun. I really enjoy working out with Carlo.

I have trained with Carlo for about 2 years now, over the time that I knew him, he has consistently went above and beyond to display his dedication to the art. Seeing him overcome his personal challenges inspired me to become a better version of myself and I am certain that he will be able to pass the same conviction to his students. Carlo's sense of compassion allowed him to feel his fellow students' mental state and I have no doubts that he will be able to carry that into his teaching. The combination of these qualities creates an astounding trainer in my eyes, I would encourage anyone to train with him.

Carlo has been a great inspiration and role model for my son Jake.
Initially, the intention for taking the self defence classes was to give Jake some confidence because he usually is a shy and timid boy. For me as a mother , I wanted to ensure my child is safe and can protect himself if and when needed.
Within a  couple of weeks after taking personalised classes from Carlo, my son Jake had to use those skills to protect himself at school. I am still in disbelief about the timing, had we not been proactive this little boy would have been hurt and his confidence slashed from the bullies at school.
Over time, this has become a mother and son quality time where we do an activity together as well keep fit.  It is important to note that no matter what your age is, we all have the right to feel safe. The techniques taught put you in real life experiences and how best to tackle to get out of it.
I encourage other parents to be proactive and use it as a bonding experience with your child. Unfortunately, bullying and crime is getting worse so do yourself a favour and help yourselves and your loved ones.
Thank-you Carlo, you are our saviour and we look forward to your classes. Jake loves your humour and it is great you can relate to kids so well.
