Training Since: 2017

Teaching Since: 2020

Technique of Choice: Backfist

Weapon of Choice: Daggers

Dan began his Arakan journey in 2017, seeking an activity that combined fitness and conditioning with flexibility around his busy schedule. Private lessons allowed him to train while balancing work.

Since starting, Dan has grown significantly as a person, and the more time he spent at the Club, the better his life became. He is passionate about sharing this transformation with others.

With a background in hospitality, Dan is service-oriented and believes becoming an instructor is a dream come true. He loves helping students gain confidence and empowerment through Arakan.

Dan's greatest achievement in Arakan is teaching and grading to Yellow Belt. Outside of training, he enjoys cooking, music, sports, and hiking.

STUDENT TESTIMONIALS

I have been taking lessons with Daniel Salmon and would like to pass on my sincere thanks to Arakan for matching me with Daniel, I have found him to be a very thorough and professional in all aspects of my training, being an elderly person, he has pushed me through my expectations and I have a feeling of excitement after every session, I am so thrilled to have the opportunity to learn from him, he treats me as a eager student not an older student and I really appreciate it, I’m kinda old school in my thinking, go hard or go home, and he helps me maintain an eagerness to push myself and learn, I would have no recommending Daniel to anyone, in my opinion he excels himself far beyond my expectations, I absolutely love the way I feel after every session.

I started training Arakan with Dan in 2020 looking to improve my fitness and get out of my comfort zone. Little did I know that nearly a year on it would be one of the highlights of my week. Dan always brings great energy to our training sessions and teaches in a way that is fun and easy to understand. No matter what sort of week I have had I always come away from our lessons feeling focused and confident. If you are thinking about giving Arakan a go, I highly recommend you choose Dan as your instructor.

Our son, Benny, was diagnosed with Autism and ADHD at the age of seven and we have struggled to find a sport or physical activity to both engage him and that would assist in building his gross motor skills and confidence.
We’d heard about Arakan and Benny has now been taking 1:1 lessons for the past six months. From the moment Benny met Dan, their connection was instantaneous. Dan’s energy, patience and understanding alleviated any anxiety Benny had in trying something new. His Arakan training is now one of the highlights of his week.
Over the past six months, Benny’s confidence has grown exponentially. He not only enjoys the hour he spends training, his physical strength has noticeably increased, as has his ability to concentrate on and follow through with instructions. Dan ensures he engages Benny in a way that motivates and encourages him, but he also makes it fun.
We such a difference in Benny and his social and physical health, and we know that Dan is a great contributor to that. If you’re looking for an instructor who is motivating, engaging and can tailor a session to your individual needs, we would highly recommend Dan.

I started training with Dan in August 2020 and couldn’t be happier with my decision. Dans lessons are practical and effective, and push me mentally and physically. Our discussions on the real life application of the techniques we’ve covered in lessons have given me the confidence that I can handle myself should a dangerous situation arise.

"I have been training with Corey now for over 4 years and initially i started training with him to get some basic fitness. I had my first complimentary lesson with Corey and was show the backfist and how to generate more power to that blow with some "technique". It was amazing to realise the difference in the power of the blow. Corey has since trained me every week since that time and (has patiently) explained everything concisely (many times) to assist my growth with Arakan Martial Art. It was apparent from the outset that Corey was passionate and considerate but his understanding of Arakan enabled him to teach the art at a very understandable level right through to being enabled to grade my first belt.
I now train with Corey to gain greater understanding of the next belt requirements but due to the exposure to Coreys passion and understanding of Arakan, is now not just about grading but more about a journey of learning that is continuous. The health benefits have been great for me personally and I cannot thank Corey enough for what he has helped me to achieve. I highly recommend him as an Arakan Instructor and have entrusted him to start training with my 14 year old son. Again, I see Corey gently working away with him and encouraging him. The benefits of having some knowledge, of what he is being Instructed, only brings us closer and gives us a better bond. Exponentially, my eldest son trains and my youngest daughter has trained for 4 years (this month, Jan 2020) as well, so it really has become a family affair."
