Nick Stowell

2nd Degree Senior Instructor

Nick began training in 2010 when he was introduced to Arakan by a work colleague. Having played rugby and enjoying various sports, Nick was looking for a new challenge that would also build on fitness, strength and conditioning.

Nick is a lovable larrikin. He has a great love of life, loves a laugh and is always happy. Arakan has helped transform Nick's life, giving him more focus and discipline and he is passionate about sharing his Arakan journey with his students, helping to transform their lives and build their confidence and empowerment.

Nick's greatest Arakan achievement was becoming an Instructor in 2013 and sharing his passion with others every day. Nick also graded his Orange Belt in 2017 and enjoys the challenge of improving every day. When he is not training, Nick enjoys playing and watching Rugby (All Blacks and Crusaders), Surfing, live bands, drawing and spending time with his family.

Student Testimonials

Through my year of training, I have surpassed my personal goals with the support and motivation of Nick. He is approachable, inspirational, and more than enthusiastic. He has not only guided me through training but given me the tools to live a better life. By far he is the most genuine, determined person I have met.

Nick Stowell is one of a kind! Nick has been there for me since the beginning. Not only has he helped me with my Arakan, but his teachings go so far beyond the techniques. I'm lucky to have him as my instructor. He is the best person to be around, and I can't recall a time I have ever seen him anything but happy or excited. Nick has so much to share with his students including his unending energy and great wisdom. Seeing him train at the Orange Belt seminar, taken by our Chief Instructor each week is a huge inspiration to me. Hopefully one day, with his guidance, I too will be able to move like him. Nick's always putting in the extra effort and has such a great connection with each of his students. Not to mention for someone who is shorter than 6 foot, he hits like a truck! Nick has harnessed his Arakan ability for amazing purposes, and I am fortunate enough to hear him share with me his understanding of the martial art and life!
Thank you Nick, for the life you have helped me achieve.
Nick May

Nick has been my Instructor since I started training. He has seen my through my highest and lowest events in my life and helped me get through it one way or another. Nick brings passion and energy with him in his training, whether as an instructor or training as a student himself.

During the many tough periods of my life, I have found Nick to be a strong individual who helped me become the better person I am today.
Luke Gizzi

Nick has a real challenge on his hands training Jake who is on the spectrum and he has handled all of it with grace and professionalism. Jake’s gross motor skills and gross body cognition have improved so much since he started training and most importantly, Jakes consideration of his physical anger and strength, and how to channel it. Nick is helping him understand this and the responsibility that comes with his size and emotions. I am excited to have Nick in Jakes journey as a male role model. His physical and interpersonal skills are 100%.
Shay, mother of Jake Whitton

Nick has been very supportive and encouraging for Sam. He knows how to push him outside his comfort level but not to the point that its beyond his capabilities.
Sam McCarthy

For someone who started at 59 years old, Nick has given me back my confidence, after having two violent altercations in the last 12 months. I thoroughly enjoy the lessons and I feel that I will be doing this until I am 70+! Nick has matched the lesson to my physical ability and has pushed me that little bit further each week. Never too late to learn!

Nick is an outstanding Instructor with enormous enthusiasm, skill, energy, willingness to share his passion for Arakan and draw out the best version of myself. He has shown me the varied benefits of Arakan in all areas of my life. Our private lessons are so fundamental in learning the skills and highlighting the art of Arakan. Nick has given me the skills and confidence to tackle anything, Who knew!?
